Final Fantasy VII(7) and Final Fantasy X(10) are supposedly related, (according to many articles speaking from the creators). How? Any relations at all besides the franchise? Characters? Story? Anything?

They’re only related in ways which all Final Fantasies are related. Same set of monsters. Same set of magic, skills, job classes, species, etc. Character names are somewhat similar (Biggs and Wedge).
I dunno. Bad answer.

I have heard people talk about it before. FF X is suppose to come before FF VII. That they leave there planet and go to the planet that FF VII takes place on. Someone said that’s what the writer of the two games said in an article some years ago. I don’t believe it. None of the games are linked. There is a Cid in every one. In FF XII there are 2. Well kind of. And there has been a Biggs and Wedge in every one. That should be the real Question, Why is there a Biggs and Wedge from Star Wars, and who is the real Cid?

It was a concept they came up with while writing FFX, but didn’t really include anything of until FFX-2, and even that was rather thin.
The first thing you have to notice to understand the basis for the connection is the similarities between the LifeStream in FF7 and the Farplane in FFX. Both are basically the world’s supply of spirit energy.
In FFX-2, a kid named Shinra says he believes that the spirit energy can be converted into usable energy, and he is working on a process to do so, but hasn’t been successful yet.
According to Kitase (one of the creators of both games), Shinra never does succeed in this, but his descendants continue on trying to develop such a process. Eventually, at least some of the people of Spira decide to leave for another planet, develop the technology to do so, and take off. They end up landing on Gaea/”the Planet” (FF7’s world), and are likely the race of people other than the Cetra that have been on the planet for a while (but whose origins were never explained in FF7). Sometime after this, while much of their history on another planet has been forgotten, some descendants of Shinra succeed in developing a method of gettign electricity from the LifeStream. They found a company around this, and name it ShinRa, in honor of the one who came up with the concept in the first place.
Kitase admitted that the details of this sub-story were never really fleshed out, and he suspected that the time gap between FFX and FF7 would be about one thousand years.
This whole thing was first stated in a Japanese interview, and later put into the FF7 Ultimania Omega guide.

Both Final Fantasy VII(7) and Final Fantasy X (10) aren’t really related story wise. But there are a few similarities you can find the Chocobos in both FF games. And a few of the summons and monsters are the same Bahamut, Shiva, Infrit Bombs, and Ultima Weapon. The characters are never the same (except in the case of Final fantasy X-2(10-2)) but the name “Cid” is given to at least one character in the game. Airships also play a part in both final fantasy’s as well as the character “Cid” being the Captain of their respective airships. Both final fantasy 7 and 10 where the first final fantasy games to be released on there consoles PS1 and the PS2.
